I have had such a lovely day today. My mum came up to join me for the day in Liverpool, and we spent the time shopping, eating and being pampered.
I bought a few more homeware bits (can you tell I'm excited to get my own place soon?!), including a duvet from Primark and some glasses from TK Maxx. We decided to go to Mowgli on Bold Street for lunch, which we have been to before and loved, hence we had to visit again - you can read my full review post here. This time we had the Bhel Puri (above), which was kind of like Bombay mix covered in a sweet and sour dressing. It was delicious but very rich! We also had the Treacle Tamarind Fries (below), which were potato cubes covered in a sticky treacle tamarind sauce. They tasted amazing! We also had three curries: Calcutta Tangled Greens, Aunty Geeta's Prawn Curry, and Mother Butter Chicken. They were all lovely, but our favourite was the chicken curry. And then as a side we had some flat bread. Mowgli, we will most definitely be back!
After some more shopping, we made our way to the Metquarter shopping centre to attend a blogging event that we had been invited to for Mother's Day. The event was being held in Sassoon Salon and was to show us some of the products that are available in the Metquarter at the moment, as well as giving us some time to be pampered.
Sassoon was gorgeous inside and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. As soon as we got there we were given cupcakes from Patisserie Valerie and canapes from Delifonseca. The canapes were amazing - I particularly enjoyed the small round ones filled with salsa, pesto and parmesan cheese. And we brought a couple of cupcakes home with us because we were so stuffed from our lunch in Mowgli.
We were also given a talk by celebrity stylist Martine Alexander, who talked to us about some of the current trends, and showed us some of the pieces that are available in the Metquarter at the moment. She was so lovely and was there all night for any advice we wanted. I particularly loved this Beauty and the Beast embroidered denim jacket, which is apparently from Minkpink, which is available in Smudge Boutique on the ground floor of the Metquarter (view it online here).
We then could have consultations with the stylists in Sassoon, and Urban Calm were offering illumination LED face masks (they also currently have some Mothers's Day offers including a "Mum & Me" package for £105). We were also able to go downstairs to Illamasqua and have our make-up done. Myself and Mum had some eyeshadow put on, and one of the girls also taught me how to do winged eyeliner properly, which was very useful! All of the makeup artists in Illamasqua were so lovely, I would definitely recommend a visit if you want anything done for you.
When we had finished at the event, we walked back to the car and I drove us home, as I have a week off university and placement next week, so I will be at home for a while. I'm looking forward to relaxing and having some delicious food cooked for me!
If there's even a slight chance at getting something that will make you happy, risk it. Life's too short, and happiness is too rare.
